Scientific and research activities of the department are focused on the study of endogenous and exogenous factors influencing the development, prolificacy, performance and health status of farmed animals and also of pet animals and game. Concerning endogenous factors, a research is mainly focused on evaluation of effects of genotype, gender, and age in relation to interaction with exogenous factors. As for exogenous factors, a research field aiming to evaluate environmental conditions, such as production and housing systems, microclimatic condition, water quality, sanitation, etc.
A study of research activities is carried out from the point of view of animal husbandry and veterinary practise, or manufacturing industry, to ensure production of healthy and safe food.
Research activity is supposed by laboratory, which is equipped for the chemical and microbiological examination of water quality.
